Worthy Corporate Fast

  • As a community of believers, we join together in corporate fasting. The intention is to silence the flesh and position our hearts to hear from the Holy Spirit. By fasting together on one accord, we give the Holy Spirit room to move as he sees fit in and through each of us before and during the revival.

  • As a community, we fast for 12 hours.

Starting at 5:00 am on the day of the gathering, ending at 5:00 pm when we gather together. If the Holy Spirit leads you to fast longer, follow his lead. We will never restrict you from his leading.

During the fast, we do not eat solid or liquid foods.

During fasting hours, we drink only water (some of us incorporate tea).

At 5:00 pm, we break fast together with our fellowship hour, where nutritious and tasty food is catered and served. That’s why we asked if you have any dietary restrictions during your RSVP.

  • No, the fast is not mandatory, but it is encouraged.

  • Try a modified version of the fast.

Option 1: Raw fruits, vegetables, and water from 5:00 am - 5:00 pm

Option 2: Water, Tea, and Smoothies from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm

  • Do not fear, fasting is a spirit-led experience. If you're worried about your sugar levels, try one of our modified versions mentioned in the previous question. If you’re intimidated by the length, try a half-day fast.

Do as much research as you can on fasting before jumping into it, and ask the Lord how he would like you to fast.

    Recommended Scriptures:

    • Isaiah 58

    • Psalm 35:13

    • Matthew 6:16-18

God cares about your heart posture. So do it from the heart and not for works.

  • The fast ends when the doors open for the revival, 5:00 pm EST. If the Holy Spirit encourages you to fast longer, be obedient. Victory and Breakthrough come from obedience.

  • What to Avoid:

    • Eating food (have a full but healthy dinner the night prior, or wake up early in the morning and have a light breakfast. That way, you can engage in the fasting requirements. Fun Tip: If you feel your stomach growl? Pray and/or open up your bible. Don’t know what to read? Just open it up and read out loud the first thing you see. )

    • Drinking alcohol/soda (The goal is to drink water only while fasting. Soda and Alcohol will break your fast. Also, the sugar and alcohol will do your body more harm than good if you jump to consume them immediately after a fast.)

    • Listening to secular music / watching secular media (During a spiritual fast, you want to consecrate your mind and heart to things of the Lord. He is Holy, and we are inviting him into our hearts to hear from him. Therefore, we must be intentional about what we allow in our ear and eye gates.)

    • Arguing/Fighting (Big No, this is what the enemy wants you to do because it's what God dislikes. Be alert and sober-minded of opportunities to “clap back” or fight with others. If you slip up, it's okay; confess your sins and repent. Acts 3:19 promises that if you repent, he will blot out your sins. Remember that according to Matthew 6:14-15, we are also called to forgive others. So release that person into the freedom of your forgiveness, ask the Lord to blot out the offense from your heart and mind, and give them grace.)

    • Complaining ( Another big no. Your words are powerful. Do not speak against what the Lord is doing during your fast. He could be repairing, restructuring, and aligning opportunities as you seek him. The tongue could be the fire against what he is doing. Complaining is why the Israelites were punished to be in the desert for 40 years. If you mess up, don’t worry, immediately repent and retract your words in prayer.)

    What is Allowed:

    Drinking Water/Tea

    What is Expected:

    • Dedicated time for Prayer ( try 15 minutes of prayer 3x during the day. When you wake up, while you’re driving, while you’re doing your makeup/getting dressed/showering. Pour your heart out, he can take it. That's what he wants, to hear from you.)

    • Confessing Sins/Repentance (Repentance is a gift, the Lord is compassionate that he promised to blot out your sins and cleanse you of unrighteousness because of it. So, spend some time apologizing to your father and asking him for his help to walk in a way pleasing to him. He delights to partner with you. That's why he sent his Holy Spirit. )

    • Releasing Offense and Unforgiveness (This is important. Tip: write a list of every person who has hurt you, disrespected you, didn't act the way you expected, didn't give you your flowers/acknowledge you, spoke bad of you, manipulated you, abused you, etc. and go before the Lord with your hurts and then PRAY FOR THEM. If the enemy tries to make you remember the offense after this, declare, “I forgive [name] for [offense]. I bless [name] and pray that all the promises of God be applied to their life. In Jesus' name, Amen.” Forgiveness is not an emotion, it's a decision, and an expectation that the father has of his children.)

    • Read and study the Bible to hear from the Lord (Want to read a full book, read the Book of Jonah or Ruth. Want to read a full chapter? Try 1 Kings 20, Psalm 27, Hebrews 10, or Romans 12. If a word stands out, look up the Hebrew/Greek definition. BibleHub is a great resource.)

    • Listening & Singing to worship music (Remember what Marvin Sapp said, “praise will confuse the enemy”. Worship changes atmospheres, and it's a warfare tactic [read 2 Chronicles 20]. So blast some worship music, dance to some AfroGospel, and work out to some Christian Hip Hop. As long as the lyrics glorify the name of Jesus. Lift up a mighty sound!)
